What Tools We Use to Dry Up the Flood

When water invades your home or business, every minute counts. At United Water Damage Restoration, we rely on professional-grade equipment to remove moisture quickly and prevent long-term damage like mold, warping, and structural decay. Here's a look at the tools that make it happen.

Pumps and extractors If there is a standing water, the first step is getting water out fast. We use  pumps for deeper flooding and powerful truck-mounted extractors for soaked carpets, padding, and hard floors. These machines can pull thousands of gallons in a fraction of the time a wet vac would take.

Air movers Once the standing water is gone, surfaces are still saturated.  Air movers push warm, dry air across floors, walls, and baseboards to accelerate evaporation. They create the airflow needed to lift moisture out of materials and into the air where it can be removed.

Commercial dehumidifiers Air movers push moisture into the air, but it has to go somewhere. Industrial dehumidifiers pull that humidity right back out, keeping the drying process moving and stopping secondary damage in its tracks.

Moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras You can't dry what you can't measure. We use pin and pinless moisture meters to check the water content in wood, drywall, and flooring. Thermal imaging cameras let us see hidden pockets of moisture behind walls and under floors that the eye would miss completely.

HEPA air scrubbers Floods don't just bring water — they bring contaminants, dust, and the risk of airborne mold spores. HEPA air scrubbers filter the air during restoration to keep your space safe to breathe while we work.

Antimicrobial treatments After the structure is dry, we apply EPA-approved antimicrobial solutions to treat affected areas and prevent mold and bacteria from taking hold.

The bottom line Drying a flooded property isn't about pointing a fan at the problem — it's a science. The right combination of extraction, airflow, dehumidification, and monitoring is what restores a property completely, not just on the surface. That's the difference professional tools and trained technicians make.
